One thousand years ago, the great Kami Dragon was summoned to grant a single terrible wish—and the land of Iwagoto was plunged into an age of darkness and chaos.

Now, for whoever holds the Scroll of a Thousand Prayers, a new wish will be granted. A new age is about to dawn.

Raised by monks in the isolated Silent Winds temple, Yumeko has trained all her life to hide her yokai nature. Half kitsune, half human, her skill with illusion is matched only by her penchant for mischief. Until the day her home is burned to the ground, her adoptive family is brutally slain and she is forced to flee for her life with the temple’s greatest treasure—one part of the ancient scroll.

There are many who would claim the dragon’s wish for their own. Kage Tatsumi, a mysterious samurai of the Shadow Clan, is one such hunter, under orders to retrieve the scroll…at any cost. Fate brings Kage and Yumeko together. With a promise to lead him to the scroll, an uneasy alliance is formed, offering Yumeko her best hope for survival. But he seeks what she has hidden away, and her deception could ultimately tear them both apart.

With an army of demons at her heels and the unlikeliest of allies at her side, Yumeko’s secrets are more than a matter of life or death. They are the key to the fate of the world itself.

3 Reasons You Should Read…

Shadow of the Fox by Julie Kagawa

  • A new Julie Kagawa series? We know what you’re thinking…YES, PLEASE!! We’ve been waiting and we know you have too! The good news? This was so worth the wait. You’re about to fall in love with Shadow of the Fox.
  • There are two things that Julie does perfectly with every book. World building and character development. Both of those elements are strong and present in this one. We were immersed in this world from page one and we found ourselves on the edge of our seats (okay, couches) waiting to see where our favorite, and even our not-so-favorite characters were headed.
  • If you’re in the market for a YA Fantasy that’s going to grab your attention from start to finish, keep you guessing until the end, and leave you desperate for the next book, then go grab yourself a copy of this one immediately. You won’t regret it.

About Julie Kagawa

julie kagawa author

Julie Kagawa was born in Sacramento, California. But nothing exciting really happened to her there. So, at the age of nine she and her family moved to Hawaii, which she soon discovered was inhabited by large carnivorous insects, colonies of house geckos, and frequent hurricanes. Julie now lives in Louisville, Kentucky, where the frequency of shark attacks are at an all time low. She lives with her husband, two obnoxious cats, one Australian Shepherd who is too smart for his own good, and the latest addition, a hyper-active Papillon puppy.
