At a school where Quantum Paradox 101 is a required course and history field trips are literal, sixteen year-old time traveler Bree Bennis excels…at screwing up.

After Bree botches a solo midterm to the 21st century by accidentally taking a boy hostage (a teensy snafu), she stands to lose her scholarship. But when Bree sneaks back to talk the kid into keeping his yap shut, she doesn't go back far enough. The boy, Finn, now three years older and hot as a solar flare, is convinced he's in love with Bree, or rather, a future version of her that doesn't think he's a complete pain in the arse. To make matters worse, she inadvertently transports him back to the 23rd century with her.

Once home, Bree discovers that a recent rash of accidents at her school are anything but accidental. Someone is attacking time travelers. As Bree and her temporal tagalong uncover seemingly unconnected clues—a broken bracelet, a missing data file, the art heist of the millennium—that lead to the person responsible, she alone has the knowledge to piece the puzzle together. Knowledge only one other person has. Her future self.

But when those closest to her become the next victims, Bree realizes the attacker is willing to do anything to stop her. In the past, present, or future.

Earlier today, we posted a fabulous giveaway and early praise for Loop, the first book in the Loop Series by Karen Akins that hit shelves today! Now we’ve got a special treat. Author Karen Akins stopped by to chat with us to let us know Finn’s (the super hot MC from the book) favorite movies! Yay! Without further ado, we’ll let Karen do the talking 🙂

***Finn’s Favorite Movies***

Thank you so much for having me on your blog today to celebrate the release of LOOP!

One of the things about writing any story is that as the creator, you know so much more about your characters than ends up on the page. It’s fun to be able to share some of these “extras” with readers. 🙂

And so I give you…Finn’s favorite movies.

Finn is a HUGE comics fan. Like, never misses Comic Con, full cosplay fan.

Nerd Life Trumps Regular Life

Now to the important question. Marvel or DC?

Marvel. Very much Marvel.

In LOOP’s sequel TWIST, I mention a few movie series that he loves, and one of them is Spider-Man, but his all-time favorite is the original 2000 X-Men movie. In his mind, that’s what it would be like to go to The Institute—the time travel school that Bree attends in the twenty-third century. And there’s some truth to that. Shifters do have a unique ability that benefits from special knowledge and training.

But…even with Finn being an undying optimist and a romantic, he would have to admit that while Bree’s school is very cool, her teachers are anything but superheroes. And someone at the Institute might even be a villain. 🙂

That, however, would not stop him for wanting to be Wolverine.

Thanks again for having me! I hope everyone enjoys LOOP. ♥

***Meet Karen Atkins***

Author Karen AtkinsKaren Akins lives in the MidSouth where she writes humorous, light YA sci-fi. When not writing or reading, she loves lightsaber dueling with her two sons and forcing her husband to watch BBC shows with her.

Karen has been many things in her life: an archery instructor, drummer for the shortest-lived garage band in history, and a shockingly bad tic-tac-toe player.

***Our Thoughts***

We’re not exactly sure what to say about this book besides wow. Time travel has always intrigued us, and we were crazy excited to check out this book. Some of it didn’t work for us, but we love Finn and Bree, so there you go. 🙂

The 411:

Bree lives 200 years in the future, in a society that has members who have a gene that allows them to time-travel. There are lots of rules, including not bringing anything back. Bree breaks that rule when she accidentally brings back Finn from the 21st century. Throughout their blooming romance (and you knew there would be romance here, obvs), Bree and Finn realize that there’s someone who is …actually, we don’t even know how to articulate what’s going on here. There’s a mystery. And Bree and Finn are trying to figure it out. 😀

What We Loved:

This storyline was enthralling. And Bree and Finn were so much fun. We loved them, as separate characters, and together. He was swoony and we were rooting for them the whole way through.

Heart Border

Um...Not So Much:

What do we even say? This book was kind of confusing. The pacing was great and definitely action packed, but most of the time, we were like, “what the hell just happened?” Maybe that’s because we don’t read very much in time travel, but maybe not.

Heart Border

Bottom Line:

Action packed with a swoonworthy boy we know you’ll love, Loop by Karen Akins is definitely for you if you love time travel adventures.
