{Top Ten Tuesday} WOW Endings

Swoony Boys Podcast Top Ten Wow Endings Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is a Rewind! That means we’re allowed to pick any past topic to revisit. So what did we decide on? We’re going to talk all about our  Top Ten Favorite Wow Endings! This wasn’t a difficult list for us to put together, when something “wows” you the way these books have, you don’t ever forget them. (As usual we went alphabetical because once you pick the top ten, it’s too hard to put them in order!) Here’s our list…

Top 10 Favorite Wow Endings:

The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon

Oh, man. This book. This ending. First of all, all hell broke loose. So there’s that. But then the things that happened with Warden and Paige… well we don’t really have words. What we can say is that we are desperate to get our hands on The Mime Order.

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

Catching Fire’s ending is like nothing else. Katniss and her ‘face-scratching despair’ had us snot-sobbing. This book solidified our love for these characters and this series. And of course, Peeta was at his best from beginning to end.

Harry Potter by JK Rowling

Is there a book in this series that didn’t leave you going “WOW” or more? We didn’t think so. This one is a given for us, years later and they still have us feeling that way any time we re-read them.

How to Love by Katie Cotugno

Between the way Sawyer LeGrande and Reena repaired their relationship, the resolution to so many problems, and all of the feelings this one made us feel in the last few pages, it had to make the cut. There aren’t very many contemporaries on this list, but this one deserved a spot.

GoodreadsAmazon

Insurgent by Veronica Roth

This one had a ridiculously powerful ending. Veronica Roth caught us off guard because no matter how many scenarios we’d played out in our heads, Insurgent gave us something completely different. It was proof that she’s a genius and that we couldn’t wait for more. (If only we had know…)

GoodreadsAmazon

Into the Still Blue by Veronica Rossi

Between Perry, Roar, and Aria, there was no way we couldn’t add this one to the list. We don’t want to spoil anything just in case some of you haven’t read yet (WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!?) but this was a perfect ending to a perfect series. It was full of all kind of twists and turns and more importantly it gave almost every single character their deserved ending. (With the exception of Roar. Poor Roar.)

GoodreadsAmazon

My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick

Since this is one of only two contemporaries on the list you know it must have something special, right? You’re correct. And the answer is, all of it. There’s a shocking twist at the end and yet we were still swooning like crazy by the final page. We really want more Jase. So Huntley, if you’re reading this, can we make that happen?

GoodreadsAmazon

Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver

This book ripped our hearts out. It is the cliff hanger to end all cliff hangers. If we could add up the conversations that we had between this one and Requiem, well let’s just say it’s a shit ton. We don’t have a conversation about a book that ends in a cliffy that doesn’t include the phrase, “it was nothing compared to Pandemonium… but what is?”

GoodreadsAmazon

Red Rising by Pierce Brown

Have you read this one? (If the answer is no, do it immediately.) If you follow us here or on twitter you already know how obsessed in love with this one we are. But the ending? Holy crap, the ending. You would think it would be hard for a book that was filled with so much action to fit even more in the ending… but that’s exactly what happened. The greatest part is that you’re left wanting more, so much more, but you also get a perfect wrap-up for a first book in a series. We can’t wait for Book #2. Seriously. Is it 2015 yet?

GoodreadsAmazon

THREE by Kristen Simmons

Kristen Simmons is a genius. A freaking genius. She had us guessing until the end, and even then we were surprised. She wrapped up this series in just the way it deserved. The big “twist” was something we ever expected, and it was perfection. We love all of these characters so much and we already miss them.
