Meet Celaena Sardothien.
Beautiful. Deadly.
Destined for greatness.

In the dark, filthy salt mines of Endovier, an eighteen-year-old girl is serving a life sentence. She is a trained assassin, the best of her kind, but she made a fatal mistake: she got caught.

Young Captain Westfall offers her a deal: her freedom in return for one huge sacrifice. Celaena must represent the prince in a to-the-death tournament—fighting the most gifted thieves and assassins in the land. Live or die, Celaena will be free. Win or lose, she is about to discover her true destiny. But will her assassin’s heart be melted?

The 411:

In a land banished of magic, Celaena Sardothien along with twenty-three others competes to become the King’s Champion. Along with the title of Champion she is competing for her freedom, something she hasn’t had for a while.

The competitors start turning up dead one by one and Celaena finds herself fighting for her life as well. So begins her mission to drive out the evil before it destroys her whole world.

What We Loved:

Right from the start we thought this book had a YA Game of Thrones feel and we loved that considering Game of Thrones is one of our favorite series.

Throne of Glass, why didn’t we read you sooner?!? This book is easily one of our top reads of the year and has been granted a spot on our “favorites” shelf.

We really loved Celaena because she’s not your average heroine just like we loved Dorian, the Crown Prince, because he is not your average royal. These two had us grinning while we were reading their interactions.

And Chaol, oh the honor that radiates off of him. He is someone we would want in our corner for sure.

Um...Not So Much:

Nothing to see here, move along…

We really don’t have anything bad to say about this book. We loved it so much. It may even be Katie’s most favorite of the year, definitely in her top three for sure!

  1. Epic series. I am so glad my daughter made me read it. (I love the “Um..not so much” section — hee hee)

I absolutely love this series! I’m only sad that now I have to wait for book 5:( But I know it will be worth the wait! At least in the mean time I can still read ACOTAR and The Assasins Blade.

OMG Let's Totally Talk About It...
